Laminate Basics

Laminate flooring is a synthetic product, designed to mimic the look of natural wood, stone or tile. To manufacture laminate, four layers of different material are fused together, creating a versatile, durable product.  Using modern technology a realistic picture is placed on top of high density fiberboard and then sealed with a clear finish wear layer reinforced with aluminum oxide, one of the hardest mineral compounds in existence.  This gives laminate the ability to resist staining, fading, surface moisture, and day to day wear.

Laminate has become one of the most affordable and durable flooring options available.  With no staples, nails or glue, laminate is extremely easy to install using a “lock and click” installation method allowing the floor to float above the subfloor.  Laminate can often be installed over an existing floor.
